Specialized Expertise

Timber Framing

In addition to conventional framing, we have specialized expertise in timber frame construction, a form of sustainable design and construction that has been in practice much longer than green home building has been in vogue. Timber framing is the purest form of post and beam construction. A structural frame is created out of heavy timbers and joined together with mortise and tenon joinery. The frame is exposed on the interior of the home, celebrating the beauty of the wood. With a continuous insulation system, timber frame construction offers remarkably better energy efficiency compared to conventionally built homes. We have built entire timber frame homes, as well as incorporated timber framing into home additions. We also have portfolio of farm buildings where we’ve restored antique timberframe barns or built brand new timberframe barns.
